On May 24, the Swarm on Congress continued with actions at the Dept of Injustice, the Cannon Building-and the Hart building again. In the Hart, a 75 year old activists was arrested on sight!

This arrest was for allegedly violating a stay-away order. Rev Yearwood spoke afterwards, comnparing her action to Rosa Parks getting fed up and refusing to take any more shit.

He said that the DemocRat's caving in on war funding shows it's time for the people to rise up and end the war with an all-out campaign of disruption. "No peace in Iraq, no peace in Congress, no peace in NW DC" were his words on this!

I agree-imperialist wars aren't stopped nor class wars won by sitting around in a circle singing songs-that takes disruption and sabotage!

To go to so many locations, Veterans for Peace(I think it's their bus) brought out their beautiful slogan-bearing tour bus. Due to its non-stealthy nature, the bus drew incessant police harassment, with cops trying to deter any stops to load or unload, and unloading being an "emergency exit" procedure.

Still, the harassment of the bus could have been far worse-when HUD tenants came to town by bus, people the cops took for homeless were arrested as soon as they got off the busses-at RFK Stadium, miles away where the cops forced the busses to go!

Lest anyone forget the US is fighting for "God, Country, and the SUV way of life," one speaker at the Cannon building press conference emphasized that one of the "benchmarks" being demanded of Iraq in the war bill is the oil law. In other words, the Iraqi government is being ordered by the US to denationalize and privatize their oil industry.

The draft oil law Iraq is refusing to pass was worked on by Bush and oil execs for years, and Iraq has said NO! for 4 year running now. It would allow Exxon-Mobil et all to own Iraqi oil outright, something they have not been allowed to have for generations in Iraq.
