The Immigrant Solidarity Caravan that originated in Prince William County stopped over at Lamont Park in Mount Pleasant on Saturday, August 18th. Despite the Dept. of Parks and Recreation's choice to refuse the caravan a permit, the event went off with none of the feared problems.
The cops and ICE stayed away, and even the MinuteKlan didn't deliver on threats to disrupt the caravan_at least not in DC where Froatz did 6 weeks in jail.

Audio includes interviews with Arturo about the permit mess, and with two caravan participants, one vowing that immigrants will NOT leave and will "stay to fight" instead of bowing to racist demands.

After a warm DC welcome for caravan participants, a red ribbon symbolizing the border(s) was strung through the crowd and cut to pieces by a variety of participants. In addition to immigrant adults, a child and a white supporter were asked to cut a piece. Next, the chopped up "borders" were deposited by the Padre in the grill-and BARBECUED!
